This honey wings recipe features crispy chicken wings which are tossed in a sweet honey sauce.
It is super easy to follow and takes roughly an hour to fully cook.
You can enjoy it as is or serve it with a Buffalo dipping sauce.
Simple Honey Wings Recipe
This honey wings recipe is made with a simple spice blend and a honey hot sauce.
The sauce is made with a simple mixture of honey, Tabasco sauce, vegetable oil and Himalayan salt.
This sets it apart from other similar sauces which most often contain garlic, soy sauce or butter.
As a result, it has a thinner consistency and is a tad bit sweeter as well.
Naturally, if the consistency doesn’t fit your preferences, you can swap it with unsalted butter.
Ingredients
- Chicken wings – You’ll need roughly two pounds of chicken wings or about ten chicken wings.
- Cornstarch – Using cornstarch will create a light crispy exterior while keeping the meat of the chicken wings tender.
- Spices – The chicken wings are seasoned with a simple mix containing cayenne pepper, black pepper, Himalayan salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder and cumin. You can substitute the Himalayan salt with kosher salt if you can’t find it at your local grocery store.
- Sauce – The sauce for this recipe is made with a mixture of Tabasco, honey, vegetable oil and a bit of Himalayan salt.
How to Make
Check out the recipe card at the end of this article for detailed, step-by-step instructions.
Start by combining all of the spices and the cornstarch in a large bowl.
Then pat the chicken wings dry and coat them with the spice mix.
Lay a piece of parchment paper on top of a baking pan and place a wire rack on top.
Spray the wire rack with cooking oil and arrange the chicken wings on top.
After you’re done arranging all of the chicken wings, place them in an oven preheated to 400°F (200°C) and bake for 20 minutes on each side.
In the meantime, mix all of the sauce ingredients in a large bowl until they’re evenly combined.
Take the chicken wings out of the oven and mix them in the sauce.
Remove the wire rack and put the chicken wings directly on the parchment paper and bake until the sauce becomes bubbly.
Storage
Even though chicken wings are best enjoyed while they’re still hot, you can still store them in the fridge.
Just make sure they have completely cooled off and put them in an airtight container.
Stored like this, chicken wings will stay fresh for 3 to 4 days.
