This sauce recipe proves that you don't need to run to Buffalo Wild Wings when you're in the mood for some lemon pepper chicken wings. It's also super easy to make and doesn't require any special ingredients.
Add the freshly squeezed lemon juice, salt, and chunks of unsalted butter into a saucepan.
Melt the butter over low heat while stirring it occasionally. This should take you roughly a minute and a half.
Keep cooking the butter over low heat for two more minutes.
Turn off the stove then add the black pepper and whisk until all the ingredients are well combined.
Transfer the sauce into a bowl.
Toss the cooked chicken wings in the sauce and serve while warm.
Notes
I make the sauce after I've baked / fried the chicken wings;
The sauce should be cooked on low heat for the best results;
If the sauce cools off and thickens, you can reheat it over low heat for 30 seconds;
The chicken wings you see in the photos are baked with a dedicated lemon pepper seasoning. This seasoning has a great flavor balance of lemon and pepper and also contains other ingredients. You could use it for the sauce but I deliberately chose ingredients that everyone has at home while making sure the sauce turns out amazing nonetheless.
